Michael J. Cornwell M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Cornwell received his undergraduate degree from Yale, and earned his medical degree
at Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C.
In 1993 he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor
society. Dr. Cornwell completed his surgical residency at
Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta in June, 1998. He
then completed a one-year traveling fellowship in Buenos Aires,
Argentina. He is board certified in general surgery and is a
Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S).
Dr. Cornwell has a special interest in advanced
laparoscopic surgery and thyroid/parathyrold surgery. He is a
member of the DeKalb Medical Society, Society of American
Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, Southeastern Surgical
Society, Georgia Surgical Society and Atlanta Medical
Association, and
is on staff at DeKalb Medical Center, both central campus and
Hillandale, and Decatur Hospital.
