3 Day Walk for Breast Cancer

Welcome to the Breast Cancer 3-Day

Each year, thousands of participants walk 60 miles over three days in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day walk for breast cancer in Atlanta. The annual event, created in 1998 and benefiting Susan G. Komen For the Cure since 2003, takes place October 23-25. DeKalb Medical is once again the medical sponsor for the event and Dr. John Kennedy, of DeKalb Surgical Associates, will be the medical director for the second year. Beginning at Lake Lanier Islands and ending at Turner Field, the walk will mean medical assistance, mostly related to foot care, for some participants.

Dr. Kennedy, current Chief of Staff at DeKalb Medical, a past president of the Georgia Surgical Society and the DeKalb Medical Society, has been treating breast cancer patients for more than 20 years. His passion includes helping to cure women with breast cancer, so they can get on with their lives.   Many of Dr. Kennedy’s patients have participated in the 3-Day Walk over the years. He also has a special focus on the team approach to treating breast cancer and presented the program, “Building a Team,” on Saturday, October 10, at 10:00 a.m. at DeKalb Medical Center (see below).
